I am a doctor in Lagos. I head business development and partnerships at Dokitami, a Nigerian telehealth company, and I write about health technology and AI in plain language.
I trained as a doctor at Olabisi Onabanjo University and worked as a medical officer at a primary health centre in Lagos. I now run a new business development and partnerships department at Dokitami, a doctor-led telehealth company here, which means finding and signing the locations we work through and building the team that staffs them.
The writing came out of the gap between those two jobs. Clinicians get told a technology will change their work, in language written for investors. People building the technology get told about African healthcare in language written for donors. I write for the person in the middle, who has to decide something on Monday.
I am not an engineer and I do not pretend to be one. What I have is a clinical read on what these systems claim, and a close view of the infrastructure they actually land in.
